Socialism Works!

Nothing “just works.” Whether doing something works depends on one’s aims in doing it.
When practice relentlessly confirms what theory predicts, which is that socialism cannot achieve its alleged aims, but this does not diminish its advocates’ desire to give it a try, we should suspect that the alleged aims are not the real aims.
If one’s aim is to concentrate power and wealth in a ruling elite, then socialism works very well. If one’s aim is to express one’s rage at being constrained by God, tradition, history, human nature, the rights and interests of other persons, reason, or reality, then socialism works. Rather than saying that socialism does not work, we should be saying that it does, and explaining what happens when it does.
